EDITH+EDDIE shows exactly how our guardianship laws fail to protect vulnerable adults, and why reform is badly needed.

"

With clarity and grace, EDITH+EDDIE puts a human face on the misuse of guardianship, a legal process intended to protect vulnerable persons but which, all too often, strips them of their rights and human dignity.

University Professor and Dean Emerita, City University of New York School of Law; Surrogate, New York County (Ret.)

The story of EDITH+EDDIE represents millions of American families who have experienced elder care disputes and guardianship cases. These cases are life altering, emotionally and financially depleting, and dealt with in isolation.

The filmmaking team is committed using the film to spread awareness and influence policy around elder justice and legal guardianship abuse.

The filmmakers' efforts are supported by an AFI DOCS Impact Grant, which includes an in-depth training in the areas of advocacy, grassroots communications and engagement.
